Airline delay and disruption claim specialist, AirHelp has released the results from its latest research and unfortunately there is bad news for some UK airlines and airports.

Using all the data available from the airlines, airports and other third-party sources, the AirHelp Score Report analysed a series of key performance last year, to rank the highest and poorest performing airports and airlines in the world.

Thomas Cook, one of the world’s oldest carriers, had a terrible year dropping 21 places and being placed in the lowest five airlines in the world for claims processing and on-time-performance. Thomas Cook’s main UK bases – Manchester Airport and Gatwick Airport – also ranked in the lowest 10 in AirHelp’s airport ranking, both landing at the bottom of the list for on time performance.

easyJet, the airline that has been named as the second worst performing in the world, was average for on-time-performance (OTP) but ranked third lowest out of the 72 airlines in the report for claims handling. With major disruptions and some of the worst industrial relations in the industry, Ryanair was the fifth lowest performing airline in the world.

Budget airline Flybe outperformed themselves to gain three positions on their previous score and are now listed as not only the 11th highest performing airline in the world but also the highest in the UK. Famous UK’s airline brands Virgin Atlantic and British Airways also scored above average for all three performance indicators.
